Community Guidelines

The short version

Quarter is a community of people who cook. Every recipe here has been made by a real person. Every photo shows real food. We built this place so people can share what they make, discover what others make, and get better at feeding the people they care about.

These guidelines exist to keep it that way. They're short because the expectations are simple: be honest, be kind, and cook real food.

1. Cook real food, share real photos

Every recipe you publish must be something you actually cooked. Every photo you upload must be your own photograph of food you prepared. No stock photos, no images from other websites, no AI-generated images.

We check. Uploaded photos go through a quick automated review to confirm they show food. If something looks off, a human reviews it before it goes live.

2. Keep it honest

Don't misrepresent what's in your recipe. Allergen and dietary information is computed automatically from the ingredients you select, and people rely on it. If your recipe contains shrimp, it needs to list shrimp. Deliberately mislabeling ingredients puts people at real risk.

If you clip a recipe from another source, cook it, make it your own, and share your version. The original author is always credited, and that attribution can't be removed.

3. Be decent to each other

Comments are for praise and constructive feedback. They're capped at 180 characters — a genuine compliment or a helpful tip is plenty.

Don't use comments, recipe titles, or photos to harass, bully, or demean anyone. Don't post hateful, discriminatory, or threatening content. Don't spam.

There are no dislikes on Quarter. There are no public follower counts. These aren't missing features — they're absent by design.

4. Don't game the system

Don't create fake accounts. Don't coordinate to inflate or deflate ratings. Don't use bots or automated tools. The best way to earn recognition on Quarter is to cook good food and share it honestly.

5. Respect copyright

Don't upload photos you didn't take. Don't copy someone else's recipe instructions word-for-word. If you were inspired by another recipe, use the clipping feature — it handles attribution automatically. If someone believes their copyrighted work has been used improperly, we have a DMCA process for that.

6. How reporting works

If you see something that doesn't belong — report it. Tap the three-dot menu on any recipe, comment, or photo and select "Report." You'll be asked to choose a reason. That's it.

When enough people independently flag the same content, it's automatically hidden and sent to an administrator for review. Reporting is taken seriously, and your track record matters.

7. What happens if you break the rules

We're not looking to punish anyone. But when something is confirmed as a violation, the response is proportionate:

  • First time: We let you know what happened and why the content was removed. That's it.
  • Second time (within 6 months): Your community interactions are held for review for one week. You can still cook, browse, and use your saved recipes.
  • Third time (within 6 months), or one serious violation: Community features temporarily disabled. You keep browse, search, cooking, and saved content.
  • Severe or repeated: Account terminated.

Violations expire after 6 months. Fresh start. Things you've earned (badges, skins, titles) stay with you through every tier except termination.

8. One last thing

Quarter exists because someone thought the world could use a place where people share food honestly. No ads, no algorithms gaming your attention, no mechanics designed to make you feel bad. Just good recipes, cooked by real people.

The community makes it work. Cook something. Share it. Be kind about what other people made. That's the whole deal.
